A YEAR OF CELEBRATION (HOPEFULLY)
In the system of Greek numerals, Omicron has a value of 70. Whether this has some significance for anyone who is superstitious, it is nevertheless an interesting coincidence that as 2022 starts we have, as a nation, started to look towards the Queen’s Platinum (70th) Jubilee celebrations. This comes at a time when the severity of the Omicron strain has been proven to be lower than some had feared and whilst infections remain very high, thankfully serious illness and deaths are relatively low.
As I write this, the isolation period for people who test positive for Covid has been cut to five full days in England and even the French have joined the party (who said party – I’ll come on to that in a bit) with a relaxation of the travel rules for vaccinated Brits who will no longer need a compelling reason to travel.
Normality beckons; or does it?
A belated happy New Year and as I write this at the end of the first full working week there are reasons to be optimistic, with a high level of applicant enquiries in the industrial and retail sectors and a general mood amongst occupiers of improving confidence, building on the end of last year with a wide range of deals completing (reported later).
Significant recent land deals include the conclusion of the sale of a site in Aston Clinton on the A41 for a 100-bed specialist dementia care facility and receipt this week of planning permission for a 50-unit housing scheme in High Wycombe on a 5 acre site that was previously in the Green Belt and AONB. Both were 5+ years in the making!!
As the world of work continues to evolve and as long held views about the nature of the workplace are dismantled, we have recently partnered with Arteel and implemented a new recognition system.
The Arteel platform enables the team to show appreciation to each other and is measured against the 5 principles upon which we are modelling the business and how we interact with one another, our clients, and our contacts. You can read about this later.
If it looks like a party, sounds like a party and smells like a party, then guess what – it’s a party!
Whilst the party might be over for some, we all look forward to a party in June to celebrate 70 years of the Queen’s majestic rule. The Queen offers a morale steadfastness, more so than many public figures, that points to what is possible in high office and whilst the world has changed beyond all recognition since 1952, her compass for the most part has been true.
I am binge watching The Crown at the moment and with some poetic licence, it offers a fascinating insight into her reign (although I’m only up to the early 1970s) and has left me to wonder if the current political void isn’t that much different from large periods of the 1950s, 60s and early 70s.
We have had almost 2 years of acute challenge but let’s hope we have a brighter future and I hope 2022 will be a good year for you.

Introducing Arteel Recognition Software
Around the world, well-being has become one of the most important goals for companies who care. Business leaders realise that money alone is not the answer. To connect with employees, a different approach is needed.
Chandler Garvey recently partnered with Arteel and implemented a new recognition system to enable us to connect with and show appreciation to our employees.
Arteel understand that a culture of appreciation matters. Their community works to build a culture of engagement and appreciation into companies around the world.
RecognisePeers is a recognition and reward system that encourages colleagues to recognise, appreciate and reward each other.
RecognisePeers helps our employees feel more connected to their work, our company values, and their colleagues.
By using the RecognisePeers system we can ensure that every employee feels seen, heard, and appreciated for all the good work they do.
As 2022 begins the staff at Chandler Garvey are looking forward to continuing to deliver great teamwork and great results for the year ahead.

The Nic Willoughby Fund Reaches Out To Local Businesses
The Nic Willoughby Fund was set up in partnership with The Heart of Bucks after the sudden death of Nic Willoughby in September 2018. Nic was a much-loved young man who died of an undiagnosed heart condition.
The Nic Willoughby Fund are holding their second charity ball on Saturday 30th April at The Oxfordshire Hotel to specifically raise money for local CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) heart screening for 14-35 year olds.
The NWF are already sponsoring a day of CRY heart screening in July 2022 in Aylesbury and hope to raise the money to sponsor two more events in 2023. “In Italy, where screening is mandatory for all young people engaged in organised sport, the incidence of young sudden cardiac death has been reduced by 90%.”
We are reaching out to you as a local business with the hope that you too will see the importance of heart screening for youngsters to find undiagnosed heart conditions and save lives.
We are currently seeking:
– Event sponsors (for the programme, wine, table decorations etc.)
– Gifts for prizes
– Gift vouchers for prizes
We would be very grateful if you would consider supporting The Nic Willoughby Fund in this way.
Our aim is to make this event as profitable as possible and any assistance you can give us, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
If you’d like to become a sponsor or if you can provide a gift for prizes, please click HERE to contact the team.
